Wanting to discover if the org's recent self-praise regarding carrying out remedial work on a dam at their new H.Q. location was justified, I contacted the New York State Parks department to ask a simple question:
#1 email
"I am writing to enquire if Sterling Forest Lake is now owned by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society, or is it publicly owned?
Thanking you for your time and trouble,"
Searcher.Response:
"Good Afternoon Searcher:
Sterling Forest State Park is managed by New York State Parks."
Best Wishes,
NYS Parks#2 email
"I'm sorry if my question wasn't clear. I appreciate that the Sterling Forest State Park isn't owned by the WTBTS, but are they now owners/responsible for the lake itself, or is the lake not their legal concern?" Searcher.
To date - no response.
Perhaps someone on the other side of the pond could have more success in discovering if the org is responsible for the lake and its infrastructure.

Millionaire JW Elder hypocrite?!
by Alostpuppydog inso i know one should remove his own stick from his own eye before ones self judges another, but i noticed something.
it seems that the wealthy witnesses are the elders, the circuit overseers, the governing body... are they really different from any other 'worldly' religions or even organizations?
i mean look at the jewels the friggen pope wears.

Highlighting the blatant doctrinal falsehoods of the org will be far more effective in awakening J.W.'s to the truth, whereas pointing the finger at "prominent" J.W.'s lifestyles - or even J.W. paedophiles - will be met with, "Well, every religion has bad in it; even the 12 apostles included Judas."
If people focus on the head of the snake - the organization's dogmas & practices - that will be more beneficial. IMO.

Paragraph 15 - "The disciples did not comprehend this vital point and later asked the resurrected Jesus: “Are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?” Jesus, however, chose not to reveal any more details at that time." (Acts 1:6,7)
False! Jesus was not withholding the information until a later date, because he bluntly told them that such knowledge and information belonged only to the Father. Jesus himself didn't know - so how could he choose "not to reveal any more details?" (Matthew 24:36)
The org uses slimy, deceptive wording yet again, to mislead the sheep and conceal what the Bible really teaches!
Best wishes for your discussion.

November broadcast makes thier strategy clear.
by Crazyguy inthier talk at this summers district conventions about shunning faders was a bit unclear and many said it was pointing out that only jws were to shun wrongdoers not specifically faders.
this new broadcast makes it now obvious that those who leave the meetings have left jehovah so therefore they are to be shunned as a form of discipline.
there can be no mistake that they do not want any of thier cult members associating with faders or those that have left the cult.

Parasite: a person who receives support, advantage, or the like, from another or others without giving any useful or proper return, as one who lives on the hospitality of others. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/parasite
Can you think of anyone who fits the bill?

Adding to SMIDDY, FREDDO, and Pale Emperor's comments:
Very conveniently, (for the org's perverted purposes) the awakened teenager voluntarily walks out of the family home.
Ok WTBTS/J.W.'s, now show the other side of the coin - when the teenager doesn't leave the family home. Demonstrate how their family situation involving meals, holidays, etc. is unaffected by remaining at home.
Once you show this paradox, try providing scriptural evidence for this contradiction as proof for the J.W.'s who must shun their child who "moved out" of the family home.
In the J.W. world, God's laws on shunning only apply to a person's zip code/postcode!!!!

"Keep in touch as a family." He said.
by Darkknight757 inwell today was the big day.
we finally let the cat out of the bag to the in-laws about watchtower.
previously there were unknown rumors being spread about me and today i found out why the wife and i are being shunned.

Well done Darkknight. Totally free now!
As for your F.I.L. and other J.W. family members, I would sincerely doubt if you will ever be having any family get-togethers with them.
Kind of you to leave the elderly man with his "beliefs" intact. If he's sincere, maybe one day he'll ask you to discuss your reasons for leaving "the truth."

Fifteen years later, I went to the UN in person.
by biblexaminer inof all the things that the watchtower has done wrong, what would you say is the singular most powerful thing that you could point a jw to, to crack their eyes open?
what is the singular thing that can be expressed bluntly and conclusively that might shock a jw to their senses?
if you could only carry one arrow in your quiver on your way to war with watchtower, what would it be?.

No single falsehood would open many J.W.'s eyes, but at least it could be the thin edge of the wedge for them.
After a recent discussion with an elder at a trolley in which he immediately denied what I said was claimed in his literature - but then agreed after 5 minutes - I now rank this as my favourite "thin edge" -
Based on their interpretation of John 5:29, the society teaches that individuals will be "practicing vile things" during Christ's 1000 years reign. Therefore, how can it possibly be a paradise if people are going to be permitted to practice vile things? (it-2 p. 789; re chap. 41 p. 300 par. 16; rs p. 338 par. 1; bh p. 214 par. 3; uw chap. 9 p. 76 par. 12; w82 4/1 p. 25 par. 18 w78 9/1 p. 22 par. 9)
The elder's squirming was a revelation.

Help with fading, please...
by longgone ini just left about six months ago and i'm going through the emotional whirlwind that comes with it.
i would really appreciate some advice on how to keep this fade from turning into my being disfellowshipped.
i'm another born in, third generation.

The Searcher
Hi LONGGONE, your distress and fears are very real and logical - because that's how we've been programmed to feel if we start to question this despicable shower of charlatans. As others have said, no disciplinary can be taken if you just fade - so the key is not to give them anything which "justifies" any action. That is the #1 rule when fading - say nothing to incriminate yourself.
Being impelled not to lie, many faders will utter a truth which hangs them.
There's no need to lie to anyone - and there's no need to discuss things with anyone!
If you adapt the following to suit yourself, you have no need to feel guilty about anything you say or do.
Just live your life according to your conscience and rules - happy that you are doing the right thing. Fading will get a lot easier the more you memorise your "conversation stoppers."
I wish you the very best as you progress on your journey.
How To Respond to Interrogators:
"Thank you for your concerns brothers, but there's nothing private & personal which I wish to discuss with anyone at the moment, but I appreciate your motives and concern. If things change, I will definitely call you."
Conversation Stoppers:
1) "We only want to come and give you encouragement." = Simply repeat the response above!
2) "But how can we help you if you won't talk to us?" = "I'm sure the Elders have private & personal situations which they wouldn't discuss with others, I'm no different!"
3) Are you refusing to talk with us? = "No, as I've already said, I just don't want to discuss things right now. I'll call you when the time is right."
If they persist with their interrogation, just say 'thanks', and walk away! They can't punish you for ending a conversation!
Repeat any/all of the above to anyone who tries to extract information from you, because the Elders will get someone you trust to try and get information out of you!
You have a P.M.

Could this be the reason for one day assemblies
by Sour Grapes inlast saturday i sat through the one day assembly and i waited for the anticipated accounts report.
for one day the costs were $10,000.
even my wife questioned why the costs are so high and why don't they give a break down on the costs?

I suggested to Mrs. Searcher this morning that once the org's "Master Plan" has been effectively implemented, (consolidating K.H.'s/merging congregations) the loyal sheep in the 'new folds' could be "requested" to follow the org's new directions on how to donate to the K.H. fund/worldwide work - by automatic bank transfer. This would be "to reduce valuable costs in administration."
WTBTS must be envious of other religions & cults who can track and deal with non-contributors - time to join them!
